What is the Ash and Hollows charge on my credit card?

Facts checked

Short answer

Ash and Hollows is a small online store whose own site enrolled buyers in a $29.99 a month "VIP club". Most people who see the charge bought something cheap from a different Facebook-advertised store, usually Cedar and Ash, and then got monthly $29.99 charges under changing names such as Ash and Hollows, Oak and Cedars and Brooks and Cedar. The store's website is now offline.

How it shows up on your statement

  • ASH AND HOLLOWS
  • ASH & HOLLOWS
  • LADY ASH AND HOLLOWS
  • OAK AND CEDARS
  • BROOKS AND CEDAR
  • ASPEN AND OAKS CLEVELAND OH

Banks trim and reformat these, so yours may be shorter or carry a different city or number. Why charge names look strange.

Who is Ash and Hollows?

Ash and Hollows ran a small online beauty and accessories store at ashandhollows.com. Archived copies of the site from spring 2026 show a product called the Ash and Hollows VIP club, with this wording: by placing an order, you agree to "enrollment into our monthly auto-bill Ash and Hollows VIP Club program where you will be billed $29.99 per month." The same page said the charge would appear as Lady Ash and Hollows.

Few of the people who find the charge ever shopped there. Complaints on BBB Scam Tracker, the BBB and Trustpilot describe one pattern: a purchase from Cedar and Ash, a store advertised on Facebook, followed by $29.99 charges under a run of tree-themed names. One BBB complainant bought a $38.81 windshield cleaning tool from Cedar and Ash that showed up as Ash and Hollows, then found $29.99 from Oak and Cedars in December and $29.99 from Brooks and Cedar in January. A Trustpilot reviewer wrote that the name and phone number changed every month.

Cedar & Ash's replies to BBB complaints call the $29.99 "the membership fee associated with the account" and say it was selected or agreed to at checkout, while granting that it "may not have been clear at the time." Most complainants say they never chose a membership. Some of the sister stores sell the same products at the same prices with the same terms wording, which points to a shared template; we couldn't confirm a common owner.

Why is Ash and Hollows on my card statement?

Almost always it's a $29.99 membership tied to a cheap first order.

  • The first purchase. Reported Cedar and Ash orders include silicone spoons, a windshield cleaning tool, a cabinet hinge tool and Christmas planter fillers, mostly bought from Facebook ads.
  • The membership. $29.99 every 30 days after that, which Ash and Hollows' own terms describe as billed until cancelled.
  • A new name next month. Complainants list up to four names on one card: Ash and Hollows, Oak and Cedars, Brooks and Cedar, Aspen and Oaks.
  • A converted amount for buyers outside the US, such as about NZ$52 for one reviewer in New Zealand.

How to cancel Ash and Hollows and get your money back

The store's archived pages give support@ashandhollows.com and (830) 268-9411 for cancellations, and its terms promised cancellation and a refund within 24 hours. But by October 12, 2026, ashandhollows.com was redirecting to a domain marketplace and the domain had just been re-registered, so those contacts may no longer reach anyone.

  1. Try the store's email and phone once, and keep a record of the attempt.
  2. File a BBB complaint against Cedar & Ash of Jacksonville, Florida. Several 2026 complainants got replies confirming their membership was cancelled and the $29.99 charges refunded, one for three charges totaling $89.97.
  3. Dispute every $29.99 charge with your card issuer as a recurring charge you never agreed to. In March 2026, Cedar & Ash itself told several complainants it couldn't process refunds because of problems with its payment processor and suggested they go to their bank.
  4. Ask the issuer to block the merchant names, or replace the card. Because the name changes, blocking one name may not stop the next charge.

Move quickly. One BBB complainant said their bank would only cover the last 60 days of charges, so go back through older statements too.

What if you never bought anything from Ash and Hollows?

Look for the first order under a different name. It's usually there.

  • Search your email and Facebook or Instagram order history for Cedar and Ash, Oak and Cedars, Brooks and Cedar, Aspen and Oaks, Ash and Timbers and Ash and Hollows in the one to three months before the first $29.99.
  • Ask anyone who shares the card, including through Apple Pay.
  • Look for other $29.99 lines with tree or wood names in the same months. They follow the same pattern.

If you find no purchase at all, report the charges as unauthorized and get a new card number. We found no action by the FTC, a state attorney general or a court against Ash and Hollows or Cedar & Ash. The BBB rates Cedar & Ash F and lists 169 complaints in three years.

Still don’t recognize it? Dispute it with your bank

  1. Open the transaction in your banking app. The detail view often shows a longer merchant name, a phone number or a city that the statement line cuts off.
  2. Ask the merchant for a refund first. It is usually faster than a dispute, and your card issuer may ask whether you tried.
  3. If the merchant says no, or you think your card number was stolen, call the number on the back of your card. Ask them to dispute the charge and, if it is fraud, to cancel the card and send a new one.
  4. For a credit card, follow up in writing. The FTC says your letter should reach the issuer within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent to you, at the billing inquiries address rather than the payments address.

Federal law caps what you owe for unauthorized credit card charges at $50. Debit cards work differently: if only your card number was used, you owe nothing as long as you report it within 60 days after the statement is sent, but the money is gone from your account while the bank looks into it. See the FTC's guide to lost or stolen cards. A successful dispute becomes a chargeback against the merchant.
